Desire
In the passage by Marita Bonner, she states "why do they see a colored woman only as a gloss collection of desires." I believe that African American women were mistreated and seen as sexual tools because of the evolution of slavery. Black women have always been seen as second and third class citizens no matter their status. The reason for this is a lack of respect and inequality in America. Until there is a break in the social and political structure of America there will never truly be a means for equality among women of different races. Allowing black women to have power would be fundamentally sound and moral because they have the tools to be diverse and affective. The beauty that black women hold in general makes them icons for pleasure and desire by men of all races.
