It is not hard to understand how race has had an sociological affect on our society. In the United States, social institutions have placed white males at the forefront of the job market while other racial groups suffer. White Americans benefit the most from their skin color because the way society views individuals based on race. Laws and customs from the Constitution of the United States of America have always favored white men. They are at an advantage and have been privilege for many years. It took a Civil War to emancipate African Americans but they did not obtain the same rights as White Americans until the late 1960’s
